Did mine three weeks ago to the day, and nothing. There are deductions, but there were deductions in my return this time last year and it only took a fortnight if that.

the best thing apart from the fact that she does my tax, is the fact that i don't rely on my return for anything

Theres a few million to go through. They probably randomly select ones to go over or the system just does things based on area or some shit.

It only struck me as curious because two of my friends did their tax after me at the same place with the same accountant and they've already received their returns. And I doubt it's based on area because they live within a 15 minute walk from me.

Anyway, I just called my accountant and she said, with a weariness that comes with fielding the same question a hundred times, that the ATO has advised them to wait for a minimum of 30 days. I guess I have another nine days to wait then, before they'd even allow me to ask.

Got an email from the payroll dept earlier saying that due to the way our pay dates fall there are going to be 27 pays in this financial year instead of the usual 26 so we could all end up getting tax bills next year if we don't set up additional deductions.

yeah we've got that too. at least they told us back in about may, and made the process pretty simple for us to change it. i increased mine by a few per cent more than they recommended, so hopefully i'll get more of a return next year.

Considering lodging my tax return at 11:59pm on 31 October just to be a pain in the arse for being given a $1.70 tax bill estimation.
